The Sports Consultancy and Dr Daniel Fujiwara launch TSC Impact: a new global service to provide the most comprehensive measure of sport and major events that quantifies socio-economic, media and environmental impact
London, Thursday, 23rd October, 2025 – The Sports Consultancy (TSC), the leading independent advisory in sport and major events, today announced the launch of TSC Impact, a new global service that will set the benchmark for measuring the economic, social, media and environmental value of sport.
TSC Impact combines TSC’s two decades of leadership in economic and media impact evaluation with the globally recognised expertise of Dr Daniel Fujiwara, a pioneer in social value and wellbeing economics. The new service responds to the growing demand from governments, investors, rights holders and brands to evidence the socio-economic and media exposure of sport and major events. TSC Impact is built upon rigorous, standardised methods to quantify sport’s role in stimulating economic growth, as well as its role in driving healthier, more inclusive and more resilient societies.
Dr Fujiwara is one of the world’s foremost authorities in social value measurement, having co-authored or contributed to 15 international guidance manuals – including the OECD’s Social Value Framework and the UK Treasury’s Green Book – and led over 120 policy evaluations for governments and international organisations such as the UN and IMF. His work has shaped social value standards in sectors ranging from health to culture, labour markets and transport.
By joining forces, TSC and Dr Fujiwara will fill a critical gap in the sports sector. While investment in sport is increasingly expected to deliver positive social impact – from improving wellbeing and community cohesion to advancing diversity and inclusion – there has, until now, been no consistent or globally recognised framework for measuring these outcomes.
TSC Impact will deliver value across the sports industry. For stadia and facility developers, it strengthens business cases by evidencing both economic uplift and long-term social returns such as improved wellbeing and community engagement. For major event owners, it provides robust data to secure government backing by showing measurable dividends in health, education and civic pride alongside visitor spend. For organisations involved in sports participation, such as federations, clubs and charities, it provides credible evidence of the social impact of their programmes and the return on investment for both individuals, society, funders, and sponsors. Ultimately, these socio-economic indicators will help to ensure that sport can compete on equal terms with other sectors for public and private investment.
TSC Impact will deliver:
- Robust, standardised frameworks for measuring the social value associated with investment in sport, aligned with OECD and UK Treasury guidelines.
- Advanced socio-economic modelling across major events, infrastructure, grassroots participation and sponsorship.
- Practical tools and metrics enabling rights holders, brands and governments to measure and communicate their impact with credibility.
- Knowledge-sharing and capacity building through publications, training, and global events.
The launch of TSC Impact builds on TSC’s unmatched track record of delivering socio-economic impact reports for organisations including the NFL, MLB, Formula 1, World Rugby, FIFA World Cup, ICC, ECB and Formula E, as well as national governments across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
TSC Impact will be delivered through TSC’s Sports Event Evaluation and Research Unit (SEER), supported by a newly convened Sports Social Value Taskforce, bringing together international partners to establish and maintain best-practice standards.
Angus Buchanan, CEO and Co-Founder of TSC, said:
“Sport is one of the most powerful drivers of positive social change, but its true impact has often been undervalued or inconsistently measured. With TSC Impact, we will combine our market leading economic and media impact with the most robust social value methodology to equip governments, investors and rights holders with the credible evidence they need to justify and optimise investment in sport – ensuring it can play its full role in creating healthier, more resilient societies.”

Dr. Daniel Fujiwara added:
“I am excited to bring the rigour of social value measurement into sport, building on global best practice from other sectors. By combining TSC’s leadership in economic impact with cutting-edge methodologies in social value, TSC Impact will set a new global standard – ensuring that the benefits of sport are fully understood, valued and maximised.”
