£6.6m BATCHWOOD SPORTS CENTRE OPENS
The redevelopment of the new Batchwood Sports Centre in St Albans has been completed. The £6.6m centre is part of an ambitious, district-wide, strategy of sports facility improvements. Accommodation includes 6 indoor tennis courts (LTA regional performance centre), 3 outdoor tennis courts, a 48 station health and fitness studio, a purpose built martial arts dojo/combat room and squash courts. The Centre is an East of England regional centre of excellence for tennis and will attract top athletes.
The Sports Consultancy completed the detailed business plan for the redevelopment, which formed a key element of the successful funding application to Sport England under the Iconic Facilities funding programme.
