13th March 2014, London, UK: The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed The Sports Consultancy, the London based sports agency, to support it in procuring a host city for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

The Sports Consultancy, a specialist in the area of host city tendering, having last year secured Singapore as host to the WTA Championship and over ten host cities for the 12th and 13th editions of the Volvo Ocean Race, will work closely with FIBA to develop the bidding materials and process for the procurement of the host city for the federation’s 2019 premier event.

Commenting on the appointment Angus Buchanan, Managing Director, The Sports Consultancy said: “We are delighted again to be working with FIBA to help build their relationships with host cities and secure a host for the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Our rights holder consultancy practice is rapidly expanding in the full range of rights management and our specialisms in host city procurement is now particularly strong. We will be using the extensive insights gained across these areas to deliver a successful bid process for FIBA.”

The bid process for the 2019 FIBA World Cup launches in April 2014 when potential hosts will be invited to express an interest in hosting basketball’s showpiece event.
