The London Legacy Development Corporation’s (LLDC) planning for the future occupancy of the 2012 Olympic Games’ key infrastructure came under renewed criticism on Friday as one of the two bidders for the media centre withdrew, criticising a lack of transparency in the bidding process.
The UK Fashion Hub (UKFH) consortium had planned to turn the one million square foot site in east London into a centre for the UK’s fashion and textile industries. Its withdrawal leaves the path clear for the iCity bid, which includes data centre manager Infinity and an unnamed property company, with their vision being to develop a technology hub to rival California’s Silicon Valley.
