The Sports Consultancy has been appointed to complete the business case for the Edinburgh’s bid to host the new National Performance Centre for Sport (NPCS). The Sports Consultancy was part of the team that completed the successful Stage 1 application for the £25 million funding from Sportsc2otland for Heriot-Watt University.
Following the lengthy and detailed assessment of the Stage 1 bids, the Deputy First Minister has approved the recommendation of the Steering Group to invite the following shortlisted Bidders to take their proposals forward to Stage 2 of the process.
· *Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh*)
· Dundee City Council
· Stirling Council and the University of Stirling.
The deadline for submission of Stage 2 bids will be 5 July 2013. An announcement on the preferred bidder will be made during the summer and it is anticipated that the construction of the NPCS will start on site in Q1 2014, with the NPCS open to performance athletes from across the country in Q2 2016. The centre will provide world class training facilities and is a key part of Glasgow 2014’s legacy proposals.
