The Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Organising Committee has announced that the sponsorship funds raised so far now amount to in excess of $1.2 billion (£760 million). This surpasses money raised by both Beijing 2008 and London 2012 and is unprecedented for a winter Games.
The sponsorship model guarantees its major sponsors a return on investment by giving them exclusive rights or other business advantages in Sochi and the surrounding Krasnodar region.
