The Argentinian football club Club Atlético Tigre have introduced an implantable microchip for fans which can be inserted under the skin.

It has been called “The Passion Ticket” and will enable fans to enter the Estadio José Dellagiovanna in Buenos Aires without a ticket or a form of ID.

The General Secretary of the club has already had one implanted in his arm – under the tattoo of the club – and has made it clear that there is no GPS tracker or anything invasive, the microchip simply enables the turnstile to scan whether the member is up-to-date on his/her payments.

Could this be the future for venues and stadia worldwide?
