1st May 2014, London: The Sports Consultancy’s fast growing, innovative consulting division is set for further expansion with the appointment of Matthew Wilson as Director, Consulting.
Prior to joining The Sports Consultancy, Matt spent 10 years delivering process improvement, organisation design and operating model projects for management consultancy Deloitte for some of its largest clients across Europe, North America and the Middle East.
In 2010, Matt joined the organising committee of London 2012 (LOCOG). He was responsible for designing, implementing and delivering the operational readiness programme that delivered over 200 readiness activities and exercises across the breadth of Olympic venues including competition venues, villages, ceremonies and airports. At Games time, Matt joined the Park Operations team and continued in an operational delivery capacity until the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. Through this experience, Matt gained unique exposure to a wide cross-section of major event operations – experience he now intends to use to support The Sports Consultancy’s rights holder and host city clients address their strategic and operational challenges.
Commenting on the appointment Robert Datnow, Joint Managing Director said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew to our growing consulting division. His appointment follows a succession of new, high calibre recruits from magic circle firms in the last year taking our permanent team up to twenty.
Matthew’s appointment is particularly significant as he will lead the Consulting division, providing key support to the business as it develops other key practice areas. His major event experience and intelligent, pragmatic approach will combine well with our existing team of Consultants to deliver first class projects to our growing rostra of clients.”
Matthew Wilson added: “I am delighted to be joining The Sports Consultancy at this exciting time in its development and to further my consulting experience in the sports and entertainment industry. There are few businesses operating in this sector with such a strong professional services approach and it is my aim is to consolidate and develop this key strength.”
