The Sports Consultancy Helps Secure Arun District Council £1.1m Annual Savings Following Operator Procurement The Sports Consultancy recently supported Arun District Council in running a competitive tendering process to appoint a new management contractor to operate the Council’s leisure facilities portfolio. The Council has appointed Freedom Leisure to manage and operate four local leisure facilities from April 1, 2016, making annual savings of £1.1 million on the current contract. Moving from an annual deficit of £500,000 to a payment to the Council of circa £600,000. The 10-year contract was awarded to Freedom Leisure following a highly competitive tender process. Arun District Council was looking for a provider which could deliver top quality facilities and customer services and bring innovative, fresh ideas to the centres. The existing centres will all come under the management of Freedom Leisure and are set to benefit from renewed resources, investment and refurbishment. In particular, Arun Leisure Centre will enjoy significant capital investment of around £1.5m to improve its facilities and energy efficiency. The contract was previously managed by locally based trust operator Inspire Leisure.
