Mastercard’s 14 years as a principal sponsor of the UEFA Champions League sponsor will come to an end this season as Italian bank UniCredit takes it’s place alongside Sony, Sony Playstation, Heineken, Ford and Vodafone for the start of the 2009/10 season.
It is understood that both banking and financial services groups bid for the contract with the Italian Bank, Europe’s 3rd largest taking the deal. An announcement is expected in the next few months.
