Vancouver and Berlin have been named as host cities for the Laver Cup in 2023 and 2024 respectively, following a comprehensive and competitive bidding process. The news comes as preparations ramp up for this year’s event, which will take place at The O2 in London this September.

The Laver Cup will be staged at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena from September 22-24, 2023 while Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena will host the Laver Cup from September 20-22, 2024.

“Our dream for the Laver Cup was to bring together the world’s top players – rivals year-round – as teammates, to honor the great legends of the past and bring spectacular and competitive tennis to new destinations,” Laver Cup Chairman and CEO of Team8 Tony Godsick said.

“With the fifth Laver Cup taking place in London in September, and today’s announcement,  we are well on our way to realizing our vision for what is now a hugely popular event on the tennis calendar.”

Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks, who forged the agreements with officials in both cities, believes each will provide a perfect stage for the event.

“We’re delighted to bring the Laver Cup in 2023 to Vancouver, a beautiful city which is renowned for hosting major sporting events. It will also be our first time coming to the West,” Zacks said. “And then in 2024 we look forward to staging the event in Berlin, one of the coolest cities in Europe.”

“Both cities are exceptional, progressive destinations with incredible facilities and a rich cultural heritage, along with thriving tennis communities. We look forward to making more Laver Cup history in Vancouver and Berlin.”

London-based agency The Sports Consultancy, widely recognized as leaders in host-city procurement for a range of sports and entertainment events, conducted the highly competitive bidding process.

“Demand for the Laver Cup has been significant, and one of the most sought-after projects we have worked on,” Managing Director and Co-Founder of The Sports Consultancy Angus Buchanan said.

“Vancouver and Berlin both presented outstanding submissions and I’m delighted with their success and the announcement today. We are now working closely with the Laver Cup team to finalize hosts for 2025 and 2026 over the coming months.”

Tennis is also a popular sport in both cities. Canada has produced many outstanding players, and three of them have competed for Team World in Laver Cup competition: Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov and Milos Raonic.

Germany is also a leading tennis nation and one of its current stars – World No.2 Alexander Zverev – is a four-time Laver Cup champion as part of Team Europe.

Laver Cup Vancouver 2023

“We are so proud to be named amongst the prestigious past host destinations of the Laver Cup, and we cannot wait to share our unique West Coast Canadian hospitality with all who travel here in 2023 to witness world-class tennis,” City of Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart said.

“Seeing the world’s best players meet on center court here in Vancouver brings a whole new level of tennis to our city,” President and CEO of Destination Vancouver Royce Chwin said.

“Vancouver is raising our game in attracting top tier sporting events to our city and the Laver Cup is another exceptional competition to add to the schedule.”

Canada’s Rogers Arena is home to the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks hockey team. The multi-purpose arena stages some of the biggest concerts and shows in Vancouver, the third largest city in Canada.

“Hosting some of the game’s best players at Rogers Arena is a huge honor and we look forward to offering up a world class experience for the fans who come to watch all the incredible action on the court,” said Michael Doyle, President, Business Operations, Canucks Sports & Entertainment.

The City of Vancouver, with its Sport Hosting Vancouver partnership, has hosted numerous international events including the 2018 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships, 2019 Olympic Volleyball Qualifier and the annual World Rugby Sevens. It was recently named a FIFA World Cup 2026 Host City and host of the 2025 Invictus Games.

Laver Cup Berlin 2024

The Mercedes-Benz Arena is Berlin’s leading destination for concerts and special events. Opening in 2008, it has showcased many international artists, as well as the Euroleague Final Four in 2009 and 2016, NBA and NHL games, the European Men’s Basketball Championship, the Handball World Championship and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

“We feel honored and we are proud to be the host venue for the Laver Cup Berlin 2024,” General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Arena Ole Hertel said.

“The sports metropolis Berlin and the state-of-the-art arena located in the city center of Berlin are the perfect location to welcome the best tennis players and fans from Europe and the rest of the world.”

“Berlin and Mercedes-Benz Arena are ideally suited for the Laver Cup,” said Steve Zacks.

“This is a modern, vibrant complex in the heart of the city, surrounded by a wonderful array of entertainment and eating venues. It has hosted many incredible music acts and sporting events, but this will be the first time fans will have the opportunity to see an international men’s tennis event at the arena. We will take advantage of all the arena and surrounding property have to offer.”

Situated in central Friedrichshain, Mercedes-Benz Arena welcomes around 1.4 million visitors a year and features on its doorstep the Mercedes Platz, a fashionable entertainment and leisure district near the River Spree.

“Berlin is honored to welcome the Laver Cup in 2024,” said Mrs Iris Spranger, Senator for the Interior, Digital Transformation and Sport.

“Hosting this outstanding tennis event in Berlin demonstrates the international appeal of this sports metropolis. We are looking forward to seeing the world’s best tennis players participate in Berlin and to celebrate this unique event with national and international guests.”

The three-day Laver Cup competition pits six of the best players from Team Europe, captained by tennis legend Bjorn Borg, against six leading players from Team World, led by Borg’s professional rival, John McEnroe.
