Dream island of Mauritius invites choirs from all over the world.
The African Asia Pacific Choir Games are set to take place on the tropical island of Mauritius from September 27 – October 5, 2025!
This will be the first time the Games will be held in Mauritius, and they are expected to attract choirs from all over Africa and Asia, but also from the rest of the world. The event will be a great opportunity for all singers and conductors to experience Mauritius’ culture and hospitality first-hand!
Due to the island’s location in the Indian Ocean and belonging to Africa, this event welcomes choirs from Africa and from the Asia Pacific Region alike, combining the already established Asia Pacific Choir Games with the African continent for the first time.
Along with the choir competitions for singers from the African and Asia Pacific regions, a Grand Prix of Nations will be held at the same time allowing choirs from all over the world to participate.
INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch says: “I’m honored to announce this spectacular new destination in our choral calendar. Mauritius is an island where everybody dreams of, and I’m really proud that we are able to make this dream become reality for choirs from all over the world. Thank you to our partners, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation in Mauritius for this unique opportunity!”
Robert Datnow, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Sports Consultancy comments: “Thanks to our extensive host city network, our combined consulting, commercial and legal expertise and the competitive public procurement process that we managed, TSC is delighted to have supported INTERKULTUR to secure Mauritius as the first ever host of what will, I’m sure, be an incredibly exciting and popular African Asia Pacific Choir Games in 2025”
Mauritius, which lies to the east of Madagascar, has a culture all its own. The mixture of Europe and India results in an exciting, creative but also peaceful mixture of peoples. These wonderful contrasts, along with the white sandy beaches most people know, make this island a sought-after destination for millions of tourists visiting the island every year.
Mauritius is an outstanding host for the event, not only as a destination, but singers can also look forward to sing at wonderful concert venues: As an example, the Port Louis Old Theatre, the oldest Opera Theatre in the Southern Hemisphere, was built in 1822 and is currently being renovated in time for the 2025 event! The Caudan Arts Centre, a landmark arts and conference venue in Mauritius and located on the beautiful Port Louis waterfront and also the Mahatma Gandhi auditorium will further be available for choral performances and concerts. The major events like the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will happen in the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex, which was constructed to the norms of the Olympics Games and is home to a variety of large-scale events.
