British Swimming has strengthened its commercial portfolio with the appointment of The Sports Consultancy’s rights marketing division.  The London based agency will work with British Swimming with a primary focus on delivering partners for the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships Glasgow 2019.

The event, which follows Glasgow’s successful hosting of the 2018 European Aquatic Championships, is a key meet for European nations in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, will be held from 4-8th December 2019 at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

This is the first time a British City has hosted these Championships since 1998 and with the country positioning itself as one of the elite centres for high performance swimming, this will provide a further boost to British athletes who are already achieving success on the international stage. Team GB’s six swimming medals at Rio 2016 (1 gold and 5 silvers) was their biggest ever Olympic haul.

The Sports Consultancy brings a wealth of experience in securing sponsors in the Scottish market with Director Marc Hope having played a pivotal role whilst at Sports Marketing and Management in securing 50 National and Global partners for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and more recently securing a range of partners for European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019, Team Scotland and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

Commenting on the appointment Marc Hope, Director of Rights Marketing at The Sports Consultancy said:

“We are delighted to be representing British Swimming at a time when the athletes are performing at the very highest level, most recently securing a 2nd place behind Russia in the 2018 European Championships medal table.

Our strong network of contacts in the Scottish and broader UK sponsorship market will hopefully be of terrific value to British Swimming along with my own experience in the sport, having led the team at CSM FastTrack to raise record partnership revenues for the FINA World Short Course Championships Manchester 2008.”

Jack Buckner, CEO, British Swimming added:

“We are immensely proud of our professional swimmers and with the likes of Adam Peaty and Georgia Davies established household names the sport presents an exciting opportunity for brand partners.  We are pleased to be working with The Sports Consultancy and look forward to working with them to develop our commercial partnership programme, focusing initially on Glasgow 2019.”

Billy Garrett, Director of Sport and Events for Glasgow Life commented:

“We are pleased to be working with The Sports Consultancy across both our major events in 2019, the European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019 and LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships Glasgow 2019 and it means we can offer partners prominent positioning throughout the year.

As a City we are immensely proud to be world leaders when it comes to hosting major sports events and again this year maintained our place as one of the world’s top five Ultimate Sports Cities whilst being voted Best Small City for hosting sporting events.”
