In recognition of increased interest from potential hosts, and the increasing value of table tennis events, World Table Tennis [WTT], the commercial arm of the International Table Tennis Federation [ITTF], is pleased to confirm the appointment of The Sports Consultancy as it continues its host city recruitment process for top tier events.

WTT’s Grand Smash, Cup Finals and Champions events sit atop a newly structured pyramid of events designed to unlock the potential of the sport to create a new era for table tennis. The London based agency, widely recognised as a leader in delivering host city agreements for a range of major sporting and entertainment properties, will invite targeted cities to express their interest to host these action-packed events.

Stephen Duckitt, WTT Event Strategy Director said:

“We are excited to be working with The Sports Consultancy to find our future WTT host cities. Despite the challenge of running events during the pandemic, we have successfully launched WTT across Asia, Europe and Africa. Our World Championships will take place in November in Houston and be held in the Americas for the first time. As the world continues to reconnect, WTT presents the perfect opportunity to bring global stars and fans to your city and your city to the world.”

WTT expects events to deliver more than USD 14.5M of economic impact for their hosts, attract up to 90% of spectators from outside the host economy and broadcast to over 135+ countries. In 2019, over 41 million viewers tuned in to watch the World Championships Men’s Singles Finals.

Sian Jenkins, Associate Director, The Sports Consultancy said:

“We are thrilled to be working with WTT on their updated portfolio of events. Through our experience of working with some of the biggest cities and rights holders across the globe, we know these innovative events offer something unique to their hosts – a perfect mix of sport and entertainment.”

WTT has re-imagined, re-energised and re-defined this top ten global sport to match audiences’ needs, create more touchpoints with fans and merge sport and entertainment to ultimately produce unmissable events. Each event showcases world-class table tennis stars in a fresh and dynamic entertainment-driven setting. It’s a new breed of event – high energy and high impact – aimed to grow WTT’s fan base of more than 520 million global fans.
