The Sports Consultancy’s legal team, spearheaded by sports law veterans Ashley Blake (General Counsel) and David Becker (Director, Legal) is delighted to announce the expansion of the team with the appointment of two new recruits, Dan Bowden and Nicole Isherwood.

Dan and Nicole join The Sports Consultancy from England Rugby World Cup 2015, the UK’s most recent major sporting event, having trained at DAC Beachcroft and Bird & Bird respectively where Nicole also gained experience working in the in-house legal teams at the London Olympic Games Organising Committee and the Football Association.

The Sports Consultancy now employs a team of five dedicated lawyers supporting the wider consultancy business on clients such as World Rugby, Isle of Man TT, FEI and the Volvo Ocean Race, as well as providing bespoke legal services to a wide range of external clients.

Commenting on the expansion, Ashley Blake, General Counsel at The Sports Consultancy said: “Our lawyers are fully integrated across the business allowing us to combine technical excellence with unrivalled commercial and strategic know-how and expertise in the sports industry. As The Sports Consultancy’s overall offering has evolved, including the creation in 2015 of a dedicated rights marketing division, growth of our public procurement, broadcast rights sales and major host procurement businesses, exciting new consultancy projects, opportunities around our governance offering and the development of our own joint ventures, the need for an increased legal provision has never been greater.

Our in-house legal team provides cost-effective solutions to our client base enabling us to provide legal services in a number of ways tailored to suit our client’s requirements, including secondments, retainer arrangements and other ad hoc services.

Dan and Nicole bring first-rate legal experience of the sports world having worked on England 2015, the London Olympic Games and the Football Association and we are delighted to welcome them as part of our growing team.”
