The Isle of Man Government has approved the proposal to appoint Vision Nine as the promoter of the iconic TT and Classic TT motorcycle races. The Isle of Man TT, first held in 1907, sees professional and amateur racers take on the 37 mile Snaefell Mountain Course with speeds averaging over 132mph.

The appointment will see Vision Nine take over a significant level of operational, promotional and commercial delivery responsibility for the TT and Classic TT from 2017 onwards.

Minister for Economic Development Laurence Skelly MHK commented: ‘I am delighted that Parliament has approved our proposal for the TT promoter partner. Vision Nine have demonstrated a real passion and knowledge about the TT and I believe they will bring substantial skills and investment to take the TT to the next level.’

David Cretney MLC, the Department Member with responsibility for Tourism, said: ‘I welcome Parliament’s approval and look forward to seeing continued growth of the TT and Classic TT. This decision signals a new era for the development and realisation of the TT and Classic TT’s potential for the benefit of our Island. The projected growth will benefit local businesses, residents and visitors – both those who have enjoyed the events for many years and visitors new to the Island.’

Angus Buchanan, Co Founder of The Sports Consultancy said: ‘The Department of Economic Development has put a huge amount of energy into analysing an array of options with the objective of not only safeguarding the TT events, but enabling them to evolve and grow to engage new global audiences and attract more spectators, media, business and spend to the Isle of Man. We have been proud to support the Department in this process, and share their confidence that this appointment will bring new investment, innovation, experience, capability and partnerships – all of which are essential to build on existing successes and take the event to the next level.’

The Department of Economic Development partnered with The Sports Consultancy to develop and deliver the promoter procurement strategy.
